| Utopia - Live In Central Park (DVD-R) | ||
| 1. Crowd in stock! |
|
|
| Click here to download a five minute (16 MB) video sampler of the show. Although the quality is far inferior to how the DVD-R will look, it does give you some idea of how amazing this show is. For best viewing, set your Windows Media Player screen to 100% (not full screen). | ||
| Notes: This is not an official release. When I first watched this video, I thought that it wouldn't be very enjoyable because the audio and video quality isn't great. By the end of the video I was shaking my head because it was the best Utopia concert I've ever seen! If you can tolerate imperfect video and audio, you are in for quite a treat. I've cleaned up the audio and video as much as possible from the original tape, making it better than the "generationed" video that some people have. The extended solos are amazing! And just check the track list! | ||

1: Show Part 3: plus a little hidden bonus! |
|
|
| Notes: This is not an official release. This one definitely has a Utopia feel to it. Part one takes us way back to Todd/Utopia's incredible performance on "Don Kirshner's Rock Concert." Part two features songs from the last Utopia show performed on U.S. soil. Part three is the historic reunion between Kevin Ellman (Utopia's original drummer) and Todd on "Power Lunch." More information to come soon. | ||

| Sausalito (DVD-R) | ||
| 1. Love Of
The Common Man |
|
|
| Notes: This is not an official release. This show was recorded on 9/5/98 in Sausalito, California. Every Todd show is different, and he proved it once again at the Sausalito Art Festival. Todd and the audience had a great time on this warm, sunny September afternoon. Todd is (as usual) up to his hilarious hijinks throughout the video. The very popular "Hawking" ended this fine set. The video is sometimes bright and sometimes dark because of the sun playing games with the camera, but it's still a pleasure to watch. The audio is very good. | ||

| Tiki Tour Live (DVD-R) | ||
| 1. I Saw
The Light |
|
|
| Notes: This is not an official release. The Tiki Tour came to the Odeon in Cleveland in June of 1999 and the town hasn't been the same since. Todd and his players enjoyed a fine night of music and chat, and now you can witness what happened. The video is very steady and good overall. The audio is also very good. | ||

1. Woman's World menu audio track - "If
Not Now, When?" from Live At The Sting In New Britain, CT (7/18/95)
2 CDr |
|
|
| Notes: This is not an official release. Finally we have an excellent video from "The Individualist Tour." This show was recorded at the Newport Music Hall in Columbus, Ohio, on 12/28/95. Although the camera is shaky at times, the video is clear and you feel like you're at the edge of the stage with superb close shots of Todd and the band! The sound quality is very good, although not soundboard quality. Todd is in a rock and roll frame of mind as he plays loads of electric guitar and not even one acoustic number! See Todd play a real drum kit during "Bang The Drum All Day." Watch Todd make and drink a hamster smoothie on stage! You'll see nearly two hours worth of Todd and the band (Jesse Gress, John Ferenzik, Larry Tagg, and Trey Sabatelli). It's great to see and hear these tunes again. | ||

|
| Notes: This is not an official release. Here we have two wonderful shows from the NWO tour! Both shows feature outstanding performances from this amazing tour. The RPM and Vogue shows both have good to very good video. The RPM show has very good sound and the Vogue show has average to good sound (it varies throughout the show depending on the song). | |||

| Surfin' The Edge (DVD-R) | ||
|
1. Intro |
|
|
| Notes: This is not an official release. Todd visits "The Edge" in Palo Alto, California, during his "Channel Surfing With TR" tour on 11/11/98. The sound is excellent and the video quality is excellent as well, except for occasional obstructions from the crowd. As an extra bonus, you get to see TR Connection's Roger Linder as the show's stenographer! | ||

| An Evening With Todd Rundgren (DVD-R) | ||
|
1. Love Of The Common Man |
|
|
| Notes: This is not an official release. Recorded on 10/23/01 at Ram's Head Tavern in Annapolis, MD, this DVD-R features excellent sound and video from the original tapes, and of course a great performance. The camera angle is from the side of the stage so you see the side of Todd, but it's still extremely enjoyable. I don't think you'll be disappointed. | ||

| Someplace/Anywhere? Volume 5 (DVD-R) | ||
|
Part 1: Part 3: plus a little hidden bonus! |
|
|
| Notes: This is not an official release. Part one is original footage of Todd demonstrating the CD-I player and talking about the future of technology. Part two is Todd's wonderful performance in Boston in the winter of 1999. The video and audio are very clear, but there are a couple of times that the camera has a mind of its own and gives you an exciting image of the ground. But there is also a lot of great closeup video. Part three is Todd with the players from Liars performing more of a rock and roll set. The camera is steady but a bit distant - still very enjoyable, especially if you prefer rockin' Todd over balladeer Todd. Three more different glimpses into Todd's ever-evolving career. | ||

(DVD-R) |
||
| Someplace/Anywhere? Volume 4 (DVD-R) | ||
|
Part 1: Part 3: |
|
|
| Notes: This is not an official release. Part one is some rare footage of a NWO show that features two songs not on the "Live In Cyberia" DVD. Part two contains some ultra-rare material. There's an unreleased song, lengthy interview clips, footage of Todd jamming on guitar, a walk-through of the "Individualist" CD-ROM by Todd, and (this one's for the girls) video of Todd on the beach. Over 93 minutes of Todd-filled fun in all. And the quality is excellent! Part three is Todd's excellent appearance at Mountain Stage. The video quality and performance are both A+. This video is a must for all Todd fans. | ||

| Check out the "Todd For President" promo clip on RealVideo. Click here to see it! | ||||
| Notes: This is not an official release. Here you have two shows from Todd's 1987 tour. Although both shows have similar set lists, it's amazing how different the shows are. The Fairmont Park show is outdoors with a large crowd, while the New George's concert is indoors and has a very intimate feeling. As usual, Todd's musicianship and banter are extremely entertaining throughout. The video quality of both shows is very good and the camera is nearly always steady. I believe a tripod was used to tape both shows. The audio quality is very good for the New George's show and good for the Fairmont park show. | ||||

say that it's about equal to "Hammerjacks." This DVD was mastered from
the original video. Lineup: Todd Rundgren, John Entwistle, Alan Parsons, Ann Wilson, David Pack, and others. |

Notes: This is not an official release. "Just One Victory" from a 1974 "In Concert" television
show is quite a gem. Although it's in black and white and the audio isn't
very clear at times, it is incredible to see Todd Rundgren's original Utopia
playing one of the classics. I don't think you'll be disappointed. |

| Hammerjacks | ||
|
1. Love Science |
|
|
| Notes: This is not an official release. Recorded on 4/14/91, "Hammerjacks" is an essential video in every Todd fan's collection. Although the audio and video quality varies greatly throughout the recording, there is no denying that Todd is "on" during this performance. It's truly amazing to watch two hours worth of Todd's talent and energy displayed in this video. Todd dances and gyrates through some of his most brilliant songs and with one of the finest bands he has ever assembled, which includes Larry Tagg and Prairie Prince. Again, there are audio and video flaws in this DVD-R, but it's easy to look past them when confronted with this awesome performance. | ||

|||||
| Notes: This is not an official release. For the first time on DVD, you can now own this wonderful TR show from B.B. King's in New York City. It was recorded on 7/23/01 in front of a very enthusiastic crowd. Todd gives a fine performance as usual, but what I found even more entertaining was Todd's hilarious banter with his fans. The video was taken with a hand-held camera, but the camera work, video and audio are all excellent. This is a superb show! | ||||||

| Notes: This is not an official release. Finally! We have a pro-shot video from the legendary acappella tour. Although Todd plays a bit of guitar and piano, the backup for Todd on this tour was primarily delivered from his ensemble of extraordinary singers, including Kasim Sulton. This is a major rarity and I enjoy watching it immensely, however it's only fair to note that the video and audio quality suffers to various degrees throughout the show. I would compare it to Rockpalast in quality, or maybe a bit below that. It is definitely much better than Star Guitar Benefit. | |||

| Meat Loaf - Bat Out Of Hell (Documentary) | ||
| In 1977, a little-known
singer and actor with the unlikely name of Meat Loaf released a record
called Bat out of Hell, and against all odds it became one of the biggest-selling
albums of all time, elevating the former Marvin Lee Aday to rock superstardom.
This documentary, produced for the VH-1 "Classic Albums" series, incorporated
interviews and performance footage to show how Meat Loaf and his collaborators
-- including songwriter Jim Steinman, producer Todd Rundgren, and vocalists
Ellen Foley and Karla DeVito -- helped to craft a 30-million selling
blockbuster. Songs include "Two out of Three Ain't Bad," "Paradise by
the Dashboard Light," and "Bat out of Hell." - Mark Deming, All Movie Guide 58 Minutes |

| Dumb And Dumber | ||
| Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels play the title roles (though viewers may
find themselves debating which is which) in this genially low-brow comedy.
Lloyd Christmas (Jim Carrey) and Harry Dunne (Jeff Daniels) are two intellectually-challenged
best friends who share an apartment so messy that gangsters aren't sure
how to trash the place; the guys also have a certain problem (not difficult
to understand) holding on to jobs. Lloyd is working as a limo driver in
Rhode Island when he picks up a beautiful and wealthy woman named Mary
Swanson (Lauren Holly) who is being taken to the airport. Lloyd immediately
falls head over heels in love with Mary, and when she leaves a briefcase
at the airport, he's determined to return it in hopes of impressing her.
Lloyd isn't able to get aboard Mary's flight (though not for lack of trying).
Harry has a van decorated to look like a dog (to promote his failing dog-grooming
business), and the pair hop in the Poochmobile to find Mary in Aspen.
What Lloyd and Harry don't know is that the briefcase is full of money,
which Mary deliberately left at the airport as a ransom payment to save
the life of her kidnapped husband. Incidentally, Lloyd's chipped front
tooth happens to be real; while Jim Carrey had the injured tooth capped
many years ago, he thought a broken smile would suit Lloyd's character
and had the cap removed for the duration of filming. - Mark Deming, All Movie Guide 106 Minutes |

| Theremin - An Electronic Odyssey | ||
| Very few people would recognize the name of Leon Theremin (1896-1993)
if it weren't for the electronic musical instrument he invented around 1918.
Fans of the first Star Trek series will recognize its sounds, but it was
used in orchestral compositions and movies quite extensively for many decades,
and even played a role in the Brian Wilson's composition of the Beach Boys'
hit Good Vibrations. However, this documentary shows that the inventor of
the forerunner instrument in electronic music is a person whose life had
a lot more to offer than that. He was called "the Soviet Edison," and was
honored by Lenin before he went to work in the United States, where he developed
the first electronic security system in the world for Sing-Sing Prison in
upstate New York. He also was a pioneer in interracial relations, braving
the strong disapproval of his peers to marry a black ballerina. He was kidnapped
from the U.S. in 1938 on the orders of the vengeful and ever-paranoid Stalin,
brought back to the U.S.S.R., charged with treason, and was sentenced to
a gulag (forced-labor camp). However, when World War II rolled around, he
was brought back into the mainstream and was put to work for the KGB, for
whom he invented the first electronic "bug" for eavesdropping, for which
he earned the Stalin Prize. - Clarke Fountain, All Movie Guide 83 Minutes (Hi-Fi Stereo) |
|
|
| Notes: This video details the stranger-than-fiction story of the father of electronic music and his invention of the world's first electronic musical instrument. Included is footage from Theremin's classic movie scores (Spellbound, The Lost Weekend, and The Day The Earth Stood Still) as well as celebrity interviews with Todd Rundgren, Robert Moog, Brian Wilson, and Theremin himself. | ||
